Request AmpMod Wiki Account

I think we should add a request account system on the AmpMod Wiki, the same way scratch does it on their wiki.
It will help fight off spam and other bad things.

I don’t think this is possible. People could easily make a Miraheze account on another wiki, and log in to the AmpMod wiki. On Miraheze, you have one account for all wikis. So you can’t just make it so you need to request an account.

The only way to implement this in a fool-proof way is to host the wiki ourselves and add an extension, but none of us have a server to host it on.

The closest we could get is to prevent users from editing by default and have some place where you can ask for your account to have editing rights.

So rejected for now. Sorry.

We could do it where users must be in a certain group to edit, and a bot can add them to that group.

Miraheze has rejected adding ConfirmAccount (an extension similar to the Scratch Wiki’s account request system) to the ManageWiki menu.
So if we implement this, we have to host the wiki ourselves. And we don’t have a server.

Bumping this up thanks to server transfer efforts that would allow us to do this, and also due to a couple of wiki incidents in the past (even though none happen now because nobody edits it apparently ).

We could do this using SSO that links up to aw3. aw3 would not allow SSO unless your account has a wiki approval flag in the database. This would also allow us to prevent users from editing the wiki if banned from aw3, though we might just use shared tables for that.
