[MAIN] Glitches in Legacy Lists and Arrays

Hi! There’s a pretty major glitch with Legacy Lists. If you get the extension, all the blocks in all categories clump together into a pile of blocks. I’ve only tested this on Github, so has anyone experienced this problem on Codeberg and does anyone have a solution?

(Note: In an hour or so I will leave for school, so if I don’t respond for a while, that’s why.)

I assume this is a bug in scratch-blocks. I will try to fix this.

amp Have you seen it occur on Codeberg also? I only use Github thanks to arrays, but is Codeberg also experiencing that glitch or another?

MissingNoForever The bug happens on codeberg in a different fashion. It just doesn’t do anything at all thanks to the fact that the codeberg-hosted editor won’t update to the new scratch-blocks for some reason. :|

amp Darn. Anything about the array glitches in Codeberg? Seems like that editor is the glitchiest—still got the red hats sadly—so have any new glitches emerged since the Array Update?

MissingNoForever I managed to fix the red hat bugs, but the glitches with legacy lists still occurs. Specifically, this is the error we get:

Uncaught Error: Variable type doesn't match this field!  Type was

I’m wondering what the type is?

Great posted a bug with this on the scratch forum topic. My guess is a misplaced symbol.

The blocks themselves work - I made a Scratch project with all the list blocks, downloaded it, and loaded it into AmpMod, and they all worked. Not only that, but when I loaded it, all the list blocks appeared in the palette.

WAIT… Maybe… Just an idea, but maybe the glitch is because when you would get the Legacy Lists extension (unavailable now), there’s no lists available, and in Scratch, there’s always lists available when there are list blocks.

I can reproduce this on the latest canary build. How odd.

Let me explain what’s going on here:
The Legacy Lists “extension” (which isn’t an actual extension but rather a toggle to change a scratch-blocks variable) isn’t the only trigger to show the List blocks. See core/data_category.js, specifically this:

  // category unless the legacy lists category is enabled.
  const variableList = workspace.getVariablesOfType(Blockly.LIST_VARIABLE_TYPE);
  var showReturn = (
    variableList.length > 0 || workspace.legacyListsEnabled
  );

Look at variableList.length > 0. This makes the list blocks show if there is at least 1 legacy list inside of the project. This means if you import a Scratch project with a list, you will get the list blocks in the toolbox!

Keep in mind that even if you don’t use legacy lists the blocks are still loaded, meanwhile for a regular extension, their blocks are only loaded if you use such extension.
