Skribu - Program in blocks, then run on your system

Skribu (“write” in esperanto, pronounced scree-boo) is a block-based programming language (like Scratch) combined with a terminal output system (like almost all text based languages).

The project will start development soon - I have an older revision of the code on my Codeberg profile but I am currently rewriting it to use a proper UI framework.

Here’s a suggestion: how about you add block-based versions of text-based programming languages?

unconstructable13 your suggestion isn’t very practical. Sure, block based languages can be converted to text based languages (this has been done with projects like Tosh, goboscript and TB3)
However text based languages are clearly more flexible. It’s much easier to introduce a concept into a text based language than to blocks, namely because you have to ensure the grammar of the language will make sense.
Scratch itself is intended for you to stop using once you know a text based language anyways.

anyways i will try to pickup development again. ampmod has been pretty big recently which kinda nerfed the skribu development cycle

i finally came up with a tagline for skribu: Program in blocks, then run on your system

also i’m working on a CLI called sksh (it’s a paperweight though since i haven’t brought the actual runtime to earth yet)

btw sksh stands for “skribu shell”

and now im gonna say the worst thing about the forums: the fact that image upload doesn’t support ctrl+v or even drag and drop, you have to drill into your screenshots directory or wherever that image is just to upload it to a random website that is less than a year old
