Seems like the AmpMod topic on Scratch has been deleted. IDK why, but I’m assuming it’s due to the AmpMod Forums link in our header.
In case you thought this forum was owned by the Scratch Team all along (which it obviously isn’t), we have pretty mediocre moderation as we aren’t the multi-million organisation that Scratch is and we can’t pay our moderators - probably nobody on this forum is a person in their 20s-to-50s who works for moderation at some company, even though the entire moderation sector of the ST probably is.
I received this message from the Scratch Team after using the Help Center to ask if I could link it:
Hi,
Thanks for reaching out. We do not allow links to any site with a chat function, no matter how well you believe it to be moderated. This is for the safety of all our users.
Thanks,
(redacted by 8to16)
Scratch Team
The fact that the deletion and this message were posted about the same time is almost certainly not a coincidence. I agree with many ST decisions, including this one.
So here are a few points:
- If (not “when” yet) I get unbanned from Scratch, I will shut down these forums because they’re a mess for staying linkable on Scratch.
- I now have plans to remove all links to both the forums and Scratch topic.
- When 0.3 is released I will give someone else permission to make a new topic, and an update to 0.3 will re-add the Scratch topic link.
- I will also promote the forums less on the wiki and ban links to them. People will mostly end up finding the forums from more potential sources like YouTube anyways, not from a random wiki or a topic on a forum whose popularity has been decreasing since many people in Scratch’s age range don’t know what a forum even is.
- I am logged out of Scratch and deleted all of my passwords from my browser, so I have basically zero chance of ban evading with an older account (and why would I do so with a new one?) But since being logged out means I can view the site but not post anything on it, I can stalk the topic, view bug reports / feature suggestions, and more.
P.S. The AmpElectrecuted name lost reputation because of my ban, that’s why I returned to the 8to16 name and that will be the account I will likely use if I get permission to return to Scratch. 8to16 was banned before, but it was only temporary for 3 days, and later had the ability to join things like PPTBF and other ST studios, and I believe almost becoming an SDS helper. It’s good people are hoping that I get my account back though. I am in the process of writing a much better appeal and will work on it over the next year rather than the rushed appeal I sent in March.
