The forums have moved to forums.ampmod.org! Posting on ampmod.flarum.cloud has been closed permanently, and we will shut down the site soon. An archive will be released eventually.

Server Transfer

amp

We’re working on transferring the forums and wiki from free hosting services (FreeFlarum and Miraheze respectively) to my own computer that will serve as a temporary server. SSH info will be posted here soon.

If you don’t know how to use a terminal, you shouldn’t access SSH, but we can give you admin access on the transferred sites.

amp

Unrelated, but the monitor on this server looks like a geometry dash level. (the monitor will no longer be used when ssh is set up)

amp

i’m currently ssh’d into the server but am hesistant to post my IP, so when we get a domain you’ll be able to ssh into it

we’ll eventually migrate to a real server because this server is a prototype

hint: the ip starts with 192.168 /j

unconstructable13

amp what are you even talking about

amp

unconstructable13 the screen on the computer looked a bit liek geometry dash thanks to the crack on the top right

amp

@Mods You may now request for account on the server. Your password will simply be set to password, but when you attempt to log in, we will asl you to change it to something else for obvious reasons. Please note fail2ban is installed on the server, so failing to log in 3 times will result in your server account being temporarily locked.

Your account will actually be accessible when we find out a way to provide access to the server.

amp can you clarify what thing on the server?

unrelated but i was just asked to participate in a wikimedia interview??????

amp

Anonymised_user_6 can you clarify what thing on the server?

user accounts

Anonymised_user_6

amp well how do I access it is it a site or an ip via ssh

amp

Anonymised_user_6 an ip, but it isn’t accessible outside of my network yet

Anonymised_user_6

amp then why did you say we could request an account

amp

Anonymised_user_6 for preparation before i find a way to open my “server” (note the quotes) to the internet

amp

this debian installation is nicknamed genesis as the transfer opens a new era for ampmod, it has nothing to do with the sega console
about 2.5TB is on the server which should sustain the existing community for ~10 years before we move to a better server, probably a data center or vps, but if we grow by even a few thousand users this will quickly fall down to ~2 years

amp what about ram
lemme guess 1 byte of ram?

amp

Anonymised_user_6 no, 1 bit
jokes aside, 6 gb which is literally less than the computer im posting this from - but if the rampocalypse ever ends we could try and upgrade the ram (no i did not build this server, it’s just an old computer that was recently replaced)

unconstructable13

amp 6 gb which is literally less than the computer im posting this from

Even less than my trash, 11-year-old computer that blue screens every so often and refuses to install ubuntu (it has 12GB)

amp jokes aside, 6 gb which is literally less than the computer im posting this from - but if the rampocalypse ever ends

the rampocalypse will never end due to stupid ai crap

amp

@Mods unforunately i can no longer use the computer this was intended to be temporarily hosted on. this means the transfer will be delayed to mid 2026 at the earliest.

Anonymised_user_6
