I think we're had 9 moderators in the entire history of ampmod. 4 have already been removed for inactivity, @unconstructable13 was removed for abusing privileges, and @Abdavark hasn't logged in for over a month. Only 3 users are now actually here to moderate the forums (me, @o97doge and @gvyt)
As a result. I declare a national emergency. We are in a severe drought. We have a few options to get out of this situation, but most are ineffective:
- Even with a sticky, nobody checks Applications. The only ever admin election that ever worked was around the time we rebranded to AmpMod. That election predated these forums (it was for the wiki) and happened over a year ago.
- We do not have the money to hire paid moderators. We are also not an organisation in the first place.
- AI moderation cannot be set up on FreeFlarum and is also a bad idea in the first place.
There are a few theories on why the wiki and forums are so inactive:
- They are tucked in the footer (in fact we removed forums links a while back - they'll be restored in 0.5)
- Almost every so-called "AmpModder", even in 2026 is using 50st's AmpMirror, which was last updated over a year ago and links to a dead forum topic, instead of the modern site which has 0.4. for context, 50st has been MIA for almost a year. Efforts to take down the mirror are failing. It's like driving an ancient car from 1900 instead of a Ford
- PenguinMod and Codetorch, and especially TurboWarp, dominate; our YouTube marketing is doing nothing (Note: TW mostly dominates 1. because the fast marketing makes it popular, 2. TW projects are Scratch projects, and 3. most problematically, because of 10 year olds playing Among Us in school before TW gets blocked and they move to CT, not because of extensions)
I think we should redefine "AmpModder" to include all AmpMod users except those who use 50-scratch-tabs' mirror. /hj[size]
